Transport is a simple service that is often done badly. The difference between a good transport partner and a stressful one is almost entirely about communication: knowing when the vehicle will arrive, knowing it is the right vehicle for the load, and knowing when the goods have been delivered and signed for.
Cleantique provides goods transport and delivery support for businesses and individuals in Nairobi, with deliveries further afield arranged on request.
Goods transportation
We carry general goods: stock and merchandise, furniture and equipment, construction and hardware materials, boxed household goods, office equipment and files. If your load needs refrigeration, a permit or hazardous handling, tell us at the outset and we will say plainly whether it is a job for us.
Business deliveries and distribution
- Retail and stock distribution: deliveries from a warehouse, supplier or importer to shops, branches or customers.
- Construction and hardware materials: cement, timber, fittings and site deliveries, including sites with restricted delivery hours.
- Furniture and equipment: showroom deliveries, equipment transfers between sites and single heavy items.
- Office and project logistics: moving stock, files or equipment between premises, often alongside an office relocation.
Scheduled and contract runs
If you move goods most weeks, a contract arrangement is more predictable for you and easier to resource well:
| One-off delivery | Contract runs | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | A single consignment, a site delivery, an equipment transfer | Regular distribution on a predictable route and schedule |
| Booking | As needed; the day before where possible | Agreed schedule, fixed days |
| Vehicle | Matched to the load on the day | Consistent vehicle allocated to your route where possible |
| Billing | Per job | Monthly invoice |
| Best value when | You move goods occasionally | You move goods weekly or more |
Who this service is for
- Retailers, wholesalers and distributors.
- Manufacturers and importers moving stock from warehouses.
- Contractors and hardware suppliers delivering to sites.
- Furniture showrooms and equipment suppliers.
- Offices and organisations moving equipment between premises.
- Individuals moving a few large items without a full house move.
Collection and delivery coordination
Every job has a confirmed collection window rather than a vague day, and the driver calls ahead. You give us the consignee's name and phone number, and we coordinate the delivery time with them. On delivery, the consignee signs and you receive confirmation. For contract runs we agree a reporting format that suits you.
Loading and unloading arrangements
Tell us how the goods are packed (cartons, pallets, sacks, loose items), their approximate weight, and the conditions at both ends: loading bay, forklift, stairs, or a long carry from the gate. We agree who loads and offloads, how many people are needed, and how the load will be secured.
Route planning and scheduling
We plan routes around Nairobi's traffic patterns, estate and building delivery hours, and the consignee's availability. Multi-drop deliveries are sequenced so that the vehicle does not cross the city twice. Early morning collections often avoid the worst of the traffic.
Vehicle suitability
The right vehicle depends on volume, weight, dimensions and access. A small pickup suits a few items; a larger truck suits pallets and bulky furniture. Narrow estate roads, low gates and basement parking can rule out larger vehicles, so tell us about access at both ends.
Shipment handling
- Goods should be packed for transport: sealed cartons, palletised and wrapped where possible, and fragile items clearly marked.
- Loads are secured with straps and protected from rain.
- Heavy items go at the bottom and fragile goods are kept separate.
- Each consignment is checked against the delivery note at collection.
Delivery documentation
Have a delivery note listing the goods and quantities, the consignee's details, and any invoices or paperwork required for the goods. The consignee signs on delivery, and any shortages or damage should be noted on the delivery note at that time.
Goods requiring specialist transport
These need a specialist carrier and are not part of our service:
- Hazardous materials: fuel, gas cylinders, chemicals and flammables.
- Refrigerated or frozen goods.
- Live animals.
- Loads needing special permits, escorts or abnormal-load vehicles.
- Very high-value items needing armoured or security transport.
How booking works
- Tell us the job. What it is, how much of it, the weight or volume, where it is going and when it needs to arrive. Photos and dimensions help.
- We confirm and quote. We tell you which vehicle suits it and give you a price. If it is not a job for us, we say so.
- Collection. A confirmed window, and a call from the driver before arrival.
- Delivery and confirmation. The consignee signs and you receive confirmation.
Preparing goods for collection
- Pack goods securely and label cartons with the consignee and number of pieces.
- Prepare the delivery note and any paperwork.
- Make sure someone is available at both ends with the right contact details.
- Clear the loading area and confirm parking for the vehicle.
What affects the cost of goods transport
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Distance and route | Time, fuel and tolls |
| Volume and weight | Vehicle size and number of trips |
| Loading and offloading | Number of people and time at each end |
| Access | Stairs, long carries, restricted hours or narrow roads |
| Number of drops | Multi-drop routes take longer |
| Timing | Urgent same-day jobs and out-of-hours deliveries |
| Frequency | Regular contract runs are priced differently from one-off jobs |

Common mistakes
- Underestimating the volume or weight, so the vehicle is too small.
- Not telling the consignee when to expect the delivery.
- Missing paperwork at collection.
- Poor packing that leads to damage in transit.
- Assuming refrigerated or hazardous goods can travel with general cargo.
Why use a professional transport partner
A dependable transport partner saves you the time spent finding a vehicle, negotiating on the day and chasing deliveries. You get a vehicle that suits the load, a confirmed time, one contact and proof of delivery.
Areas we serve
We collect and deliver across Nairobi, including the Industrial Area, Westlands, Embakasi, Mombasa Road, Kilimani and Karen, and to nearby towns such as Ruiru, Thika Road, Kikuyu, Syokimau, Kitengela and Ngong. Routes further afield can be arranged on request.
